Role-based access control is a common yet critical feature of any software application. Role-based access control (RBAC) is a method of restricting application access based on the user roles in an organization. Essentially, users within the system are each assigned a specific role relating to their job duties and are thus only able to access features relevant and useful to their tasks.
Why permission user roles?
This control allows users access to the tools within the system they need to perform their job and prevents them from accessing areas that do not pertain to them. Security and quality rely on a sound system of roles and access control. By limiting the amount of features accessible to a worker, it prevents the wrong tool from being used and potentially creating inaccuracies in system data. In addition, RBAC can also be an effective way to train new or seasonal employees. By restricting each workers settings to only those relevant to them, it makes it easier for new/temporary employees to focus on learning the essential components of their role, without the distraction of unrelated modules getting in the way.
How ParityFactory makes it possible
ParityFactory not only employs the security of RBAC but also allows for an extended feature of customizing roles specific to your business and the warehouse processes. Food processors must manage teams of individuals in Receiving, Production, and Shipping—not to mention the office staff and managers. There can be dozens of specific roles needed for keeping the flow of process and information efficient and accurate.
ParityFactory comes out of the box with an industry standard of pre-created roles for both the Office and Mobile applications. The industry is very diverse though and so the need for custom roles is a powerful feature. The creation of Custom Roles is possible because of the intentional way the application was developed. Each feature or module of the application are developed as Security Objects. These security objects are units of security that can be layered together for a very specific custom role.
Once created they can be named, cloned, tweaked and then Linked to the user accounts desired. A Receiving Team that only needs the Receipt and Print Labels modules in Parity Mobile, to an office manager that runs Parity Office reports and administers the ERP integration. The possibilities are at your fingertips.
The easy-to-use interface of Parity Office facilitates the creation of these custom roles. You can start with a role that already exists and clone it. Once cloned, the user can edit Security Objects, and delete or add objects to the role.
The flexibility and security of RBAC custom roles is built into the Parity Factory applications right out of the box. Interested in the peace of mind and efficiency that comes with a food-specific WMS? Reach out today to schedule your free demo and see ParityFactory in action!
